Please reach us at pupsnsudsks@yahoo.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Well first, you get to meet any one of our nice receptionists at our locations. They then grab your groomer/bather working on your pup, and allow you to tell them any specific requests. We keep notes on the pups' behaviors, triggers, preferences, and more. We are a very communicative set of shops, that try to inform you of anything important you need to know, even something as small as a nail was accidentally cut too short and we'd fixed it up. We want the pets to feel safe and comfortable, and not have to wait in a kennel for too long. We are aware of pets anxieties/pet parent requests (like loops under armpits for collapsing tracheas) and make sure to highlight that we know to do those things each visit.
As soon as your pet is finished up, we give you a call or text to let you know right away. We also note if you'd like any kind of a heads up on when they'll be done, so you can pick up right around when they're ready. We include a spritz of cologne & a bow or bandana with each service as a way to spruce them up even more (Unless specified by an owner to not do so). We then happily get you rebooked at time of checkout if you'd like, and say goodbye for now to you and your fur babies! <3
We offer a variety of pet grooming services, including baths, haircuts, nail trims, ear cleaning and anal glands (glands as needed).
Yes, we offer grooming services for both dogs and cats. We also trim cats nails, and can do sanitary trims, brush outs, shaving, etc. on cats. We offer nails in our bath or shave packages for cats as well. Anything additional outside of a cat bath/nails, or cat shave/bath/nails (like ears, anal glands, etc.) should be requested at drop off.
The frequency of grooming depends on the breed and coat type of your pet. We recommend bringing your pet in for grooming every 4-6 weeks. That is generally the amount of time it takes for your pet to start getting their natural oils back in full, and is usually a good amount of time between haircuts to keep a good maintenance schedule.
The quick (vein) in a nail slowly recedes each time the nails are cut and/or filed. Totally up to the owner and personal preference, however, we do typically recommend about once a month. We do have clients though that come every 2 or 3 weeks as well. The more often you come, the shorter we can over time get the nails!
An appointment is preferred for nail trims that way we are prepared and have someone free to assist you. However, walk-ins are always welcome, may just have a small wait until someone is free. This is also a perfect time to tell us anything we need to know about pet behavior during nails beforehand, so we can get what we need ready.
We always recommend brushing your pet at minimum once a week, could be up to every other day or every day depending on coat condition, breed, length of hair you're trying to achieve, etc. We always recommend using a slicker brush & a comb on breeds that receive haircuts (specifically any doodle mixes). We use a technique called "Line Brushing" that you can do to get a thorough brush on your pet. After using the slicker brush and "line brushing" your pet, take the comb through the hair. If the comb gets stuck, there are still knots. (Remember, matting may be hidden under the upper layer of hair that you brushed. The comb is SO important, to make sure no matting is hidden right next to the skin underneath the nicely brushed out hair). We are more than happy to show you this technique in person at any of our locations to help you better care for your pet at home.
Many things can irritate a pups skin, including diet, grass/pollen, or just their genetics. Chicken is a very common allergy people don't realize dogs have! Removing that from their diet may be a good first step to see if they are having skin issue due to that. (If switching foods, switch over slowly, with a mix of the old food and new food, gradually adding more of the new and less of the old until all new food only. Can cause bad tummy issues if done all at once).
If still having issues after removing chicken, the next step we would recommend is getting one of our medicated baths. This includes medicated shampoo and conditioner that battle all kinds of issues on the skin (yeast, other bacteria, etc). We allow it to sit on them for a brief period to really penetrate the skin and soothe any itching/redness. Also making sure any spots afterward that can collect moisture (paws, nose wrinkles, etc.) stay dry when at home. That will prevent further irritation and/or bacteria growth.
If neither of these changes seem to help, would contact your veterinary office for an appointment to further investigate the cause of their skin issues!
Yes! We can book out your appointments until your hearts content! Kim or Allison will also text you all of the appointments booked, that way you can put them into your calendar and don't have to wait in person for us to book them all!
First and foremost, we keep notes of any behaviors of pets that are less common during grooming: (biting, growling, making circles continuously while being groomed, a pet potentially exposed to having "dryer seizures", etc.). These notes help us determine how to best care for your pets. We always make sure someone is with your pup at all times, even when waiting to be picked up. A hand is always on the dogs when getting groomed/bathed, and if someone needs anything, we work as a team to help each other get what we need if we have a pup in the tub/on the table. We also always team lift big pups, as to keep the pup and our staff safe. We have tables that raise up or down for nervous pups that don't like jumping or being picked up. We are always very communicative with pet owners about their pets experience with us. Being safe and transparent are some of our best qualities as a salon.
Yes. Many different breeds can have bad reputations, but we treat them all like they are sweet souls regardless. We know most dog aggression comes from past trauma, or being provoked, so we always make sure to ask any behavioral things we need to know up front, to best care for your pet. We do have muzzles if requested by the pet owner, or if are required to be able to finish a service. We let owners know also if we find we need to use one during the service and what service we were providing when it was on. It is usually our last resort though, after trying all of our tricks first.
